2 Months Old

Isaac had his 2 month appointment today. It was kind of perfect timing since he hadn't been feeling well for the past couple of days. I was also able to get a follow up on my thyroid. Of course, since they waited so long to test me it went from extremely high (13) to extremely low (.04). The normal range is between .66 and 3. As you can see I am totally out of those ranges. I am now back on my normal dose of medication that I was on before I had him. I don't know why it took this long for the doctor to figure it out.... or maybe it was because I had to tell him. Sad. Anyhoo, little man weighed in at 10.8 pounds or 4.9 kilos and is in the 40% percentile for weight. He measured 22 1/4 inches long or 57 cm and is in the 25% for length. (That one kind of shocked me....he seems such a long baby!) His little noggin measured 38cm...still very small. Hardly any of the newborn hats fit him. We had his tongue checked to see if it was too short and would be a problem in the future. The doctor said it's of normal length so no problems there. He also told us that he had colic. Jeff and I still have a hard time believing this since we know he was experiencing colic at the beginning when we were having formula issues. We just still think he is having allergy issues since the rest of the people in the house are having them. He always has a snotty nose. It doesn't sound like colic to me. The bad news is his face is starting to break out with the baby acne. He seems to be having a rather light case of it, but it has even extended back to his neck. The areas seem to heal quickly, so that gives me some hope that the whole thing will pass quickly. Confession time: I had a bad mom moment. The morning that we went to the doctor I had to wash bottles. Someone was put in his big boy chair and got to sit right in front of the tv to watch Dora. This was the first time and believe you me it will not be a habit. Bethany was a tv addict and always had to have the tv on, so we are going to try to not make that same mistake with this little guy. We'll see how it goes and how frustrated mommy gets before plunking him back in front of the tv again. lol. I will say that he loved Dora. He was quiet the whole time and didn't start fussing until the credits rolled. His little feet kicked 90 to nothing.
After we got home he was still screaming up a storm from his shots that he received today. He stopped at the dr office after I breastfed him. I also gave him some tylenol before the shots, but when the tylenol wore off.... here came the tears. His little boo boo. He got one shot in this leg and two shots in the other leg. It really made mom cry. Bethany never cried with any of her shots- EVER. This little guy wailed which made me cry. Definitely a first for both of us.
After I got him settled down he was out like a light for quite awhile....which didn't make me hate shot day too badly. I stayed with him on the couch though and held him because I knew he had a hard day.
After he woke up he was just still fussy and unhappy. He got some more tylenol, but he was just unhappy. Period. That is until his Sissy came home. If there is anyone that can get a smile out of him- it's her. He loves her so much. Every morning she comes in and talks to him before going to school and he loves it. He just grins at her. It makes a mom's heart so big it wants to burst.

  1. Ah, poor little guy AND poor little mama. It's a rough patch you're going through. I miss helping out. Some of those shots really cause residual pain and so both of you get to suffer.
    Love you two,
    Mom

  2. I LOVED the picture of Pesh getting a sweet grin out of the boy. That looked really precious. I know - gushing again. We just have to live with my propensity to gush over my grandkids.
