On Sunday, May 31st at noon, Isaac was dedicated to the Lord in Nainhof Chapel in Hohenfels. Although it saddened us that our families would not be able to attend, it was important for Jeff to do it while we were still here. When we got married, Jeff wanted his old youth pastor, Art Melli, to be the one that married us. Unfortunately, the timing was just bad for both parties and it just didn't happen. Jeff decided that since we couldn't get married by him then he wanted him to officiate the dedication of Isaac. Jeff talked to him and they arranged the time. The last thing left was a Godmother and Godfather. Jeff and I had talked endlessly about the important characteristics that person(s) should have. We went down through a long list of people and put it off many times since it was such a hard decision. How do you pick without someone getting mad or upset? Finally, we chose. We decided not to have a Godfather and chose a Godmother instead. We decided on our friend, Tina O'Neill. We called Tina and asked if she would do Isaac the honor of being his Godmother and she was thrilled. It was so important to her that even though her husband arrived home the previous day from a 15 month deployment, she came anyway. Everything from then on was a go.... oh and we needed a Christening gown. I ordered one which never came. The day before his dedication we ran to Regensburg and purchased one at a baby store there. Now we were set!
Isaac fell asleep in his highchair while dad and I finished getting the house together before Art and Beckie arrived.

Since the Christening suit didn't come, we dressed him up in this cute little outfit that his Pop and Nan had just sent that week. It is sooooo cute and we love it. Talk about perfect timing since the Christening gown we had purchased needed an outfit underneath it.

Two words - "Praise God." I agree that it is right to get that fine boy covered by the Lord as soon as possible. I also agree with your choice of Godmother. That Tina Girl is just the sweetest thing and she is gorgeous. God is good. He has given us the Schmidt family - complete now. Isaac is a handsome young mnan with a beautiful sister, mom and a handsome dad. Best of all for him - EVERYONE loves him.
ReplyDeleteLove to all of you,
Proud Nana
BTW, didn't Isaac look really attentive? Not! It was just no big deal to him.
