Well today I had my glucose fasting test. I got up bright and early and had to be there by 8am. When I got there the only person there was the receptionist. Not unusual. In the past I had to wait 10-15 minutes for the doctor to make the trip from his Parsberg office to his Burglengenfeld office. Well, after 45 minutes the midwife still hadn't shown up. I have had some issues with my blood sugar crashing. At this point I wasn't feeling my best since I didn't eat. I went up and asked and about that time the midwife strolled in through the door. Argh!
The sugar drink wasn't bad at all. It was cherry juice. I was buying that quite a bit on the german market so I got rid of it pretty quickly. Before I drank she tested me and I was at 81. She told me to come back in an hour. Initially I wish I would have stayed because on my way back home it hit me and I had jelly arms that didn't want to hold the wheel. On the way back I was feeling a tad better, but still kind of rough. She tested me and at that point I was 133. She said that was pretty high. She told me to come back in another hour for my final prick of the earlobe (which btw is probably the least painful when it comes between the fingers or the earlobes). My final test revealed 91 which she said was still a little high. She had me stay so that Dr. E could look over my numbers and determine the outcome. He came out and said they were fine.
So, that is the good news. The bad news is that I still had the sugar fit and for the rest of the day I was so weak and tired. He had put me on a low sugar diet when I started having these little fits. He explained that after I ate something sugary that I crashed immediately afterwards because the body was blowing through the sugar too fast. He wants me to eat more healthy which I think I had shared with anyone anyways.
Anyhoo, we are fine! My next appointment is on the 4th of March...next week.
Hugs to all,
p
PS. Good news... probably one of the best yet and I forgot to put it in. My thyroid has stablized for the very first time throughout my whole pregnancy. I hope it stays that way especially during this very important time of Isaac's brain development.
