3 weeks Old

Ok, just when I think I am staying caught up....I fall behind again. Now I am a week behind and a lot happened this week! So, I'll make the lame promise to once again do better. There are no guarantees...after all....it is the baby holding up the progress. lol. I have to blame someone, don't I? Anyways, enjoy the pictures below. Some little anecdotes about the 3rd week are added in.

Isaac turned 3 weeks on Wednesday, 8 April, 2009. Sleep is still a challenging part of our life with someone rising every 2 hours to have a bottle or nappy change.

This week also marked someone's first diaper rash. Yikes..... very painful.

Isaac sleeps excellent at night....when sleeping on me.

Went on a walk this week and he actually enjoyed it. Loosely translated...he slept through the walk.

Isaac loves doing tummy time as seen from the photos above. He mainly spends the time trying to eat his boppy pillow. Too cute.

Isaac also went to church for the first time this week and did really well throughout the service. Yeah, buddy!

I am an overzealous mother and therefore, I take a hideous amount of cute photos of my little guy.

After taking the roll-over guards out of his co-sleeper this week, he slept a little better in his co-sleeper bed. He wasn't nearly as fussy afterwards.

This little guy has the most amazing blue-gray eyes I have ever seen.

Something cute- he growls and coos while eating. I have started calling him my little puppy. If this kid gets anymore adorable, I can't hold myself responsible for all the kiss dents that will be left on top of his little noggin.

His nose is still stuffy. And, he snores. It makes for a loud combination in your ear at night.

Kilroy was here. One of my favorite photos taken completely by accident.

This precious little hand loves to hold my hand during feeding and stressful times. I'll always hold your hand, buddy.

I LOVE this outfit on him. It makes me kiss him twice as much which makes him growl back at me twice as much.

Did I tell you that I can't get enough of this little man?

On the medical front, his circ is healed up. However, being a worrisome mom, I wonder about his short little tongue. Could this be the cause of my breastfeeding wows? Will this cause speech issues in the future? Ah, more questions to bug the doctor about.

Little man has been having a hard time with colic. Hard tummy. Lots of straining. Lots of puke down mom's shirt and pants.... about 110ml worth. Passing gas and belching... is it colic or is he turning into a man? lol. Just kidding. I do worry about the little guy. He seems uncomfortable a great deal of the time. Another question to ask the doctor about.....

Sometimes this little guy just doesn't want to breastfeed. It can be aggravating, but we are still sticking to it. Surely, it has got to get easier.

Such a precious little face....

"By one month of age, the baby has usually practiced sucking long enough to take in liquids well and to suck efficiently. Less milk mess and sputtering!" This little fact doesn't seem to be true in the eyes of his father who has on many occassions called him a little piggy.

A site that is shared by all of his family members. So, when does this little guy start sleeping through the night?

"Newborns prefer some tastes over others; for example, newborns prefer sweet over salty, and show negative facial expressions after tasting salty, bitter and sour solutions." We have discovered this week that my intolerence for onions during pregnancy is directly related to him not caring for my breastmilk after I eat onions. The boy REALLY does not like onions. One miserable sleepless night is directly correlated to one cup of coffee in the morning and a regular caffeinated coke in the evening. I can honestly report that it will NEVER happen again.

So, I hope you survived the multitude of cute Isaac photos. They were just all so adorable and really too hard to pick just a couple.
Love to all,
The Sleepless Schmidts

  3. What a guy! I think I'm in love. Grandkids seem to have a talent for making me fall for them.I can't wait to get my hands on him. He looks so huggable.
You are right - catch that sleep as you may because it will be hard to come by for awhile. If he's like Pesh - quite awhile. Let's hope not. I'll be sending the Mylicon Drops soon. Hope fully better tummy days will ensue.
    Love you all,
    Mom/Nan
