Also of news, his umbilical cord fell off rather quickly. We had to go into the clinic because one morning when I went up to change him the cotton wrapped around his cord had gotten melded into the cord. Nurse Sweeney went right to work soaking it in saline solution and after a few minutes was able to get the cotton to release from the umbilical cord. That evening the cord fell off.
Friday, we took him in for his circumcision. All I can say is that I was devastated to see my baby go out that door. Then as if I thought I couldn't feel any worse, they wheeled him back in with a tear stained face and huge alligator tears still in his eyes. I really feel that this is when things went downhill for him. He no longer wanted to sleep in his cradle after this happened. Jeff feels it's just coincidence and mother's guilt, but I don't know....just really seems to be something to this.
The good news is that we are doing better at the breastfeeding thing. I don't think we will ever be able to breastfeed full time though. He just seems like he wants to eat all the time- supplements and breastmilk. I don't think I can supply him with enough. We are wondering if this is in part to him not feeling well. I seem to remember Bethany gorging herself when she was ill. Most of the time he just wants to be on the breast, but not really eat which leads me to believe that it is only for comfort purposes. I'm sure eventually we'll get the whole system figured out.....I hope!
Something else we have noticed is that he is losing his newborn look and starting to get more distinguishing boyish features. Very exciting to see this little guy blossom before our eyes. It definitely brings back memories of watching Bethany grow before our very eyes from a little girl to a teen and now to a young woman.
Love to all,

PAM! He is so absolutely adorable. I am so happy for you and the family, Isaac has been long awaited for. :D I love his expressions, for a little guy he sure has the cutest smile!!! Reading all about your new mom experiences has me smiling. I am sure recapturing every moment has been blissful since Bethany's days of infancy. Hug the little one for me and be intoxicated by his sweet baby smell!
